Price the snag list, not just write it

A snag list - the list of everything not yet finished or not yet right - changes character the moment each item carries a number. Unpriced, it is a set of complaints the builder can nod along to and quietly outlast; priced, it is money, and money gets managed. Walk the build room by room, write every item down with where it is and a photograph, then put a fair cost of putting it right against each line. The total does two jobs at once: it tells you what should be held back from the final bill until the work is done, and it tells the builder that finishing properly is cheaper than hoping you will get tired.
