Privacy
How I handle information when you use this site, contact me, download a resource or book a call.
Who is responsible
I am Jack Butler-Kettle, a sole trader. I am responsible for the personal information collected through this website and in my business enquiries.
Enquiries
If you send an enquiry, I collect your name, email address, role, message and any phone number you choose to give me. A company or trading name is optional for a Self Builder and required by the full form for the other listed business roles. The form sends its essential page context. If you separately allow optional measurement, it can also send a bounded route trail and campaign context. I use the enquiry details to save and respond to your enquiry and to queue the relevant notifications.
The optional choice to receive occasional construction payment updates is separate from the enquiry. It is unchecked unless you choose it, and the choice and wording used are recorded with the submission.
Protected resources
When you request a protected resource, I collect your email address and, where the form asks for them, your first name, company or trading name, role and current concern. A company or trading name is optional for a Self Builder and the course request remains email-only. I also receive the resource requested and essential page context. Optional route and campaign context is attached only if you allow measurement. I use these details to verify the email address, provide access to the requested file and keep a record of the download.
Resource access does not require marketing consent. You can separately choose an unchecked option to receive occasional construction payment updates. The resource verification and delivery messages are still sent when that option is not selected.
After verification, the site uses an essential signed cookie to remember the confirmed email address in that browser. This avoids asking you to verify it again for another protected download. The cookie is read by the server and can be cleared by choosing to use a different email address.
Diagnostic
The self-build course diagnostic uses session storage so you can continue while the tab remains open. Its answers and result may be sent as essential context when you complete the diagnostic or request its protected resource. That operation does not depend on optional measurement or marketing.
Booking a call
The booking page displays Microsoft Bookings. If you use it, the information you enter is submitted to Microsoft through that booking service so the appointment, confirmation and calendar invitation can be arranged. You can use the contact form or email me instead.
Site measurement and browser storage
Optional measurement is off unless you choose to allow it. If allowed, the published site may load Plausible Analytics and keep a minimised first-touch record in local storage plus campaign tags and a route trail in session storage. Query strings are not kept, referral URLs are reduced to their origin, campaign tags use a short allowlisted character set, and trails are bounded. The current technical caps are 30 days for the choice and first-touch record and 24 hours for session records; these are safety maxima, not an assertion of an approved retention policy.
Withdrawing clears the optional browser records available to this site and stops further collection. Expiry is checked when the site next accesses those records; it then returns the choice to pending and removes them. Enquiries, resources, the course and remembered-download access continue without optional measurement.
Current choice: pending (off).
How long records remain
Submitted enquiry, resource and consent records currently remain in the application database until they are deleted. No automatic purge period has been approved or implemented. Verification links expire after 7 days, download links after 30 days, and the essential remembered-download cookie expires after 365 days. Those token limits do not delete the underlying submission record. A random receipt ID helps prevent duplicate submissions and maintain an audit trail, but it is not treated as a reason to keep the personal details attached to it forever. A retention and deletion schedule still requires approval.
Services used to handle information
Information submitted through the site is handled through the website hosting, database and email services used to store submissions and queue notifications, confirmations, verification links and any updates you choose. Resend is configured for those email functions when intake is activated. Microsoft Bookings handles information entered into its booking service. On the published production domain, Plausible may be loaded only when optional measurement is allowed. External analytics stays disabled in development and private preview environments.
Work with us
The Work with us form is for freelance support, future opportunities and applications for advertised open roles. Registration is available independently of vacancies. When you submit it, the details are processed in a private recruitment record for manual review.
The live form collects your name, email, optional telephone, town or region and country, work and travel preferences, self-reported skills, relevant experience, qualifications or memberships, start date and availability, and desired engagement type. A CV and work or portfolio link are optional. A text-only submission is available. Do not send a full home address, identity documents, date of birth, referee details or confidential client material.
This information is kept in a separate private recruitment record so I can consider relevant support and opportunities and contact you about them. A submission is saved before a business notification is attempted. Notification failures and retries are tracked separately. An optional CV is kept as a private file, not a public download or email attachment. The file is checked for unsafe content before it can be attached to a recruitment record; a file that cannot be cleared is quarantined and is not made available for review.
I review registrations manually against the practical information supplied and, for an application, the requirements of the relevant open role. Registration and a claimed skill are not suitability approval, a job offer or an automatic appointment. There is no automatic selection or rejection and no marketing enrolment. No response time is promised.
To update, reconfirm or withdraw your details, email contact@jackbutlerkettle.com with your submission reference. Requests are handled manually after checking the relevant identity; do not send identity documents through this form. Received and last-confirmed dates and the history of changes and decisions are recorded.
No recruitment retention duration has been approved and automatic deletion is not enabled. Any retention or refresh setting remains subject to review. The private recruitment index, source messages, decision history and cleared CVs can be exported as ordinary files and CSV or JSON; they are not combined with leads, downloads or commissions.
