The budget keeps changing and I don't know what is safe to spend
Each new choice changes the total, but there is no clear baseline to show what the build can carry.
What's happening?
A self-build budget moves when the design develops, quotations replace allowances and site information becomes clearer. That movement is not necessarily a problem; the problem is when there is no record of what changed, what was assumed in the first place and which packages still have not been tested.
Without that baseline, a saving in one place can be mistaken for spare money while another cost has simply not arrived yet. A package-by-package cost plan, cashflow and stated contingency separate the money committed from the money still exposed to change.
The solution
Put the current design and known site conditions into one cost plan before treating any remaining allowance as safe to spend.
If you would rather it were done for you, Budget & Cost Plan is the service that does it.
