Adjudication Quantum Support

RemedialHourlyFor Claims Consultants & Consultancies

I prepare the quantum sections of your referral or response and stand behind the figures until the decision lands. Adjudication timetables do not wait for your quantum resource to free up.

The problem

Adjudication compresses months of valuation work into days: a referral needs its quantum built before service, and a response usually gets seven to fourteen days to answer figures the other side spent months assembling. Either way, the quantum cannot be written the night before, and it is the part most practices are shortest on when the timetable is running. A rushed quantum shows, because adjudicators discount figures they cannot follow, and a responding party that only attacks the other side's numbers without putting up its own leaves the adjudicator one set of figures to work from: theirs.

The solution

I take the quantum workstream off your desk for the duration: building the valuation for a referral, or taking the referring party's figures apart line by line for a response and putting a costed alternative to the adjudicator, so the choice is never between their number and nothing. The work runs on the adjudication's clock, drafted to slot into your submission, and I stay on the figures through the process: answering the other side's quantum points as they land, inside the timetable the directions set.

What you receive

Your submission goes in with its quantum built to be followed rather than discounted, and every quantum point the other side raises gets a costed answer inside the timetable. The position stays documented from first draft to decision: the figures, the build-ups behind them, and the points still in play.

The Handover Pack accompanies the work with its dates and sources, likely outcomes and responses, scope boundaries and ready-to-send correspondence where needed.

Turnaround: the timetable is agreed in writing at scoping and then kept.

The working days start when the agreed scope and required inputs are available. Optional items do not hold the start unless the agreed scope says otherwise.

How it works

  1. You bring me in as early as the timetable allows

On a referral, before service; on a response, the day the referral lands. Every day of the window counts.

  2. I clear conflicts and scope the work

I check parties and projects against my other engagements before I open a file, done fast to fit the adjudication window, then confirm the sections and format with you in writing.

    Timetable Fixed in Writing

Deadlines are taken from the adjudicator's written directions, never assumed, and the internal programme is set back from them before work opens.

  3. You send me the paperwork

You send everything below the day you instruct me; the work runs on the adjudication's clock.

    • A

The referral or response being answered

      Essential

Without it: There is nothing to answer and no timetable to work to, so the response cannot start

Where to find it: Whoever is running the adjudication for you holds the served set

Why I need it: What is answered, and to what timetable

    • B

The quantum claimed with its full build-up

      Essential

Without it: There is no method to test, so nothing can be checked or challenged

Where to find it: Served with the referral; ask for native files if only PDFs arrived, and the request itself is telling

Why I need it: What is claimed and how it was built

Quality: a live spreadsheet, formulae intact, one tab per head.

    • C

      The records behind each head

      Important

Without it: Heads with nothing behind them are answered as unproved rather than positively disproved, which is the weaker response

Where to find it: Wherever your QS holds them: valuations, variation instructions, site records, allocation sheets and invoices, sorted by head if they already are

Why I need it: What supports or undermines each head

    • D

The timetable, with any agreed extension

      Essential

Without it: There is no date to work backwards from, so no internal deadline can be set with confidence

Where to find it: The adjudicator's directions and any extension correspondence, not a date recalled from memory

Why I need it: The timetable governs the whole exercise

    • E

The executed contract or subcontract, with every amendment, schedule and pricing preamble

      Essential

Without it: The valuation method cannot be tested against its governing rules. The response is limited to arithmetic and evidence, with that untested method clearly identified.

Where to find it: The job's commercial folder, the order or acceptance correspondence, or whoever is running the adjudication and holds the served set

Why I need it: The valuation rules each head has to satisfy, which is what the work tests the method against

Copies are fine. Send what you have and I'll tell you what's missing. Download the client request PDF or editable Word version to pass to whoever holds the files.

    Time Allocated by Exposure

The hours are allocated head by head against the values at stake, in writing, so the biggest money gets the deepest testing.

  4. You run the case

The jurisdiction, the entitlement arguments and the advocacy stay with you.

  5. I build or dismantle the valuation

I construct your figures with their build-ups, or test theirs line by line with a costed alternative put up.

  6. I draft the quantum sections

I write them to drop into your referral, response or reply, in your style, on the deadline.

    Every Figure Referenced

No figure goes out until it traces to a document in the bundle and the schedules reconcile, so the adjudicator can follow every number.

  7. You keep me on the figures

You route the other side's quantum points to me as they arrive and I answer them on your timetable.

  8. I hold the figures through the timetable

I answer the other side's quantum points in any further submissions the directions allow, on your timetable, with every reply traced like the first draft.

I hand over a quantum built to be followed
