Keep the variation register current, priced and evidenced
The single biggest reason a final account drags is variations done on site but never priced, instructed but never confirmed in writing, or priced once and never reconciled to what was built. Keep the register live: every change with its instruction reference, its current price and the record that proves it happened, updated the month it occurs. At the account, each variation is a line you present with its evidence.
