Every month-end is a scramble

The last week of every month is the same: the CVRs arrive in different states, someone pastes them into the master sheet, the master sheet needs repairing where the pasting broke it, and the board pack goes out late describing a month that is already history. Everyone can see the effort; nobody can see the method; and that is exactly the combination that makes directors quietly stop trusting the numbers.

The scramble is not a people problem, it is a plumbing problem, and the first step is a map of the plumbing: who touches the numbers between site and board pack, where they get retyped, where they get reconciled by eye, and which steps exist only because two documents refuse to talk to each other.
